Substitute Teacher Jobs in Dayton, OH
A Substitute Teacher steps into the role of a regular Elementary Teacher when they are absent, ensuring the continuity of education for students. The Substitute Teacher plans and delivers lessons according to the regular teacher's curriculum plans, manages the classroom, and maintains a positive, engaging learning environment. They must have the ability to adapt quickly and carry out the lesson plans left by the regular teacher effectively. They also evaluate student progress and provide feedback on their performance.
Substitute teachers should have strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of instructional techniques and child development is also crucial. At minimum, a Bachelor's degree is required, and some states may require a Substitute Teaching Certificate or Teaching Credential. Individuals may gain experience in roles such as a Teaching Assistant, Tutor or Child Care Worker before becoming a substitute teacher. This provides them with exposure and understanding of the school environment and the responsibilities involved in teaching.
