Duties
- Teaches District approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated, including remote instruction.
- Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules and enforces policies and rules governing students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Provides guidance and leadership for paraprofessionals assigned in their classroom.
- Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students, with the assistance of district specialists.
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates on a regular basis with students and parents regarding progress in class.
- Communicates positive achievements on a regular basis with all stakeholders.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, parents, and families.
- Remains available to students and parents, for education and relationship building-related purposes, for events outside the instructional day including but not limited to: orientations, open houses, concerts, and promotion activities, where their participation is necessary for the success of the event. This will not exceed three (3) events per school year.
- Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all stakeholders - fellow employees, students, parents, and community members.
- Communicate in a professional, acceptable, and courteous manner with all stakeholders - fellow employees, students, parents, and community members.
- Performs all other duties reasonably related to position as may be assigned by administration.
Qualifications
- Hold an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) for the particular position as required by the State.
- Must be familiar with the use of Google Suite and other online platforms.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with students, teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, parents and the general public.
- Ability to maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all stakeholders - fellow employees, students, parents, and community members.
- Ability to communicate in a professional, acceptable, and courteous manner with all stakeholders - fellow employees, students, parents, and community members.
- Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
