Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and dedicated full-time Upper School History teacher to begin in the 2025-2026 academic year . Major Functions and Responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of primary-source driven and writing-intensive Upper School History courses, from World and US History to a range of electives (Economics, Contemporary Global Issues, Political Science).
- Collaborate with the Upper School History teachers to ensure a cohesive, rich, and diverse history curriculum.
- Timely and proactive communication with students, parents, and advisor about student progress.
- Lead an advisory group.
- Participate actively in the life of the school, including leading clubs and/or activities, supervising study halls, and possibly coaching.
- Active participation in all faculty and staff meetings.
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
- An undergraduate degree in a humanities related field with at least three years of classroom experience preferred.
- We are particularly interested in educators with expertise in multicultural and/or gender-focused lenses with strengths in Latin American, African, and/or Asian history.
- A continuous commitment to improve teaching proficiency, particularly with technology as applied to best practices in education.
- Familiarity with diverse ways of engaging students over a range of learning styles enhanced by a desire to try new approaches.
- Excellent communication skills, a love of teenagers, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a diverse, collaborative environment.
- A commitment to and an understanding of the importance of an all-girls education.
