Working as a Lead Elementary Teacher at KIPP St. Louis, you are motivated in meeting needs and nurturing the strengths of young minds. In addition to engaging in a positive learning classroom environment, you have the experience of leading your classrooms to engage students in sparking their curiosity. KIPP St. Louis currently educates over 2,000 students and at full growth, we will educate nearly 3,600 students and hundreds of alumni. Today, our St. Louis network consists of two middle schools, three elementary schools, and a high school.
Job DescriptionElementary School Special Education Teacher
Working at KIPP youre an enthusiastic educator engaging in students innate curiosity. You work to support our exceptional learners through direct intervention through pull out small groups and by pushing in classrooms for co-taught instruction. You fundamentally believe that everyone can succeed and understand that individual tools help students learn. You understand the importance of compliance and how vital an IEP meeting can be for you, your student, and their family. Youre excited to dive in.
On the day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:
Curriculum Development and Instruction
Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments
Use data to inform instructional decisions
Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs
Help Build a Positive School and Classroom culture
Embody and maintain schools values, policies, and culture
Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff
Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students
Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences and more
Demonstrate a Growth Mindset
Pursue challenging professional goals each year
Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with your colleagues
Participate in school-wide and individual professional development

Operate a computer and office equipment on a daily basis

What you bring to the table:
Bachelors degree required, Master's degree (preferred)
Missouri Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical K-12 Certification (REQUIRED)
