Job Duties
What You'll Do:
Works under general direction & requires considerable knowledge of teacher education.
Instructs inmates with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders in assigned academic and/or pre-career-tech subjects, self-help, leisure time alternatives, physical education, socialization skills and environmental awareness
Assesses educational needs of inmates
Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
Provides instruction and individual assistance
Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
Maintains discipline and/or security
Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
Attends meetings as required
Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
Researches, selects & recommends new teaching materials
Attends in-service training sessions & workshops for professional development
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher/License appropriate for learning disabilities/behavioral disorders; or severe behavioral handicapped; or multi-handicapped; or develop-mentally handicapped; or current valid Ohio teaching license in mild/moderate, intervention specialist or moderate/intensive intervention specialist pursuant to OAC 3301.24.05 appropriate for those with learning disabilities & behavioral disorders & grade level to be assigned; Teacher 1, 71211, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement; Note: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
