If you have school-age childcare programming experience and enjoy teaching young minds, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a Licensed Childcare Center School-Age Care Lead Teacher at Meadowbrook Community Center. This is a year-round, part-time position starting Spring 2025.
ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, Licensed Childcare Center School-Age Care Lead Teacher will share their talents with the community and teach children ages 5-12 years old during the after-school program.
Our programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.
Start: Spring 2025
Schedule:
This position is a part-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends.
The hours can vary between the hours of 6:00am-9:00am and/or 12:30pm-6:00pm during the school year.
For break camps/summer day camp it varies Monday-Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm.
Licensed Childcare Center School-Age Care Lead Teacher Responsibilities:
Leads daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old
Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth
Ensures a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for
Licensed Childcare Center School-Age Care Lead Teacher Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have High School Diploma minimum hiring requirement
Initial certificate (12 credits) in ECE required (by 5 years or by Aug. 1, 2026). Short Certificate (20 credits) in ECE must be obtained 2 years from completing Initial Certificate
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience working with children ages 3-5 in a preschool setting
2 years of experience supporting and implementing curriculum activities for a large group of children
Experience supervising and directing children during programming is required
Certifications (required):
- DCYF Preservice Requirements and General Staff Qualifications
